CompTIA’s Network+ Certification Course introduces students to the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for CompTIA's Network+ Certification exam (220-601). Specifically, the course covers the following objectives:
Understand basic network structure, star, bus, mesh, ring topologies
Identify major network operating systems and directory services
Associate IPX, IP and NetBEUI with their functions
Define mirroring, duplexing, stripping, volumes, tape backup
Define layers of OSI model
Recognize and describe characteristics of networking media and connectors
Identify basic attributes, purpose and function of network elements
How network card is configured, diagnostics, resolve hardware resource conflicts
Identify hubs, MAUs, switching hubs, repeaters, transceivers
Describe data link layer concepts
Explain routing and network layer concepts
Explain transport layer concepts
Demonstrate knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals
Demonstrate fundamental concepts of TCP/IP addressing
Demonstrate knowledge of TCP/IP configuration concepts
Explain when to use TCP/IP utilities to test, validate and IP connectivity
Explain remote connectivity concepts
Specify elements of dial-up networking
Identify good practices to ensure network security
Demonstrate awareness to administrative accounts prior to network implementation
Explain impact of environmental factors on computer networks
Recognize common peripheral ports, external SCSI, common network componentry
Demonstrate awareness of compatibility and cabling issues
Demonstrate documentation of current status and configuration of workstation
